COERR Mae Sot Organized a training on Stress Management for Caregivers under Foster House Program in Ban Nupo Temporary Shelter, Umphang District, Tak Province, on December 13, 2023. There were 16 participants of 10 females and 6 males attending the training.
The objectives of the training were to equip the caregivers, whose task was to provide day-to-day care; to support child’s education, health and social well–being, with basic skills provided by Child Specialist, in child care as well as managing stress which could happen.
The caregivers learned about 2 types of stress : acute stress which is short-lived and can be handled by themselves, and chronic stress which is long-term stress that will negatively affect their health, if it goes untreated, such as, hypertension, obesity, diabetes, depression, stomach-ache, diarrhea, headache, fatigue, forgetfulness, insomnia, etc.
Stress management will, therefore, prevent oneself from health problems. Stress can be handled by controlling emotion and doing some stress relief activities, such as, to meditate, do gardening, read, pray, talk to family and friends, walk or run to clear one’s head, etc. Stress relief activities will helped clearing the mind, thinking positively, thinking before speaking, having reasonable explanations for keeping relationship with others.
Moreover, it also helped to nourish the brain with healthy diet, reduce sugar and caffeine, avoid alcohol drinks, as well as having good rest.
